2026 Global Children’s Literature Teacher Fellowship Program

Call for Applications!

The Michigan State University Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, African Studies Center, Asian Studies Center, College of Education, and the Linking All Types of Teachers to International Cross-cultural Education (LATTICE) are excited to announce this opportunity for K–12 teachers. This fellowship brings together classroom teachers with a team of MSU faculty and graduate students to connect local and global ideas through children’s literature.

Program Dates:

  • March 7, 2026: 9:00am–4:00pm Eastern Time, in person (MSU campus)
  • March 14, 2026: 9:15am–12:30pm Eastern Time, Zoom
  • March 21, 2026: 9:15am–12:30pm Eastern Time, Zoom
  • March 28, 2026: 9:15am–12:30pm Eastern Time, Zoom
  • April 25, 2026: 9:00am–4:00pm Eastern Time, in person (MSU campus)

This program is supported by the U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant funding, with additional support from MSU and LATTICE.

Benefits for Teacher Participants:

  • $500 stipend

  • $50 to purchase children’s books

  • Option for 21 SCECHs

  • Participant-developed teaching materials (e.g., lesson plans)

2023 Global Children’s Literature Teacher Fellowship Program

The Michigan State University College of Education, in conjunction with the African Studies Center, Asian Studies Center, and the Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, was delighted to present a unique opportunity for K-12 teachers in a previous event.

This fellowship provided a platform for collaboration between classroom teachers and a team of MSU faculty and graduate students. Together, they explored the intersection of local and global ideas through the exploration of children's literature.
