Speaker: Professor A. "Bala" Balasubramaniam is the Director of the Institute of Design at JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur. At JKLU, he has put together robust, new-age, future ready Design Programs for under and post-graduates. 

He teaches Form Studies, Design Process, Design Thinking, and Systems Thinking. He is also the elected President of Association of Designers of India (ADI), the professional body for designers, for the term 2022-24. He was recently named as one of the "Must Watch Top 10 Educational Leaders of the year 2023" by Higher Education Digest magazine. He regularly writes on design issues in the Times of India, Economic Times, Hindustan Times, Businessworld and other major design publications in India and abroad. He also writes a popular blog called Design Thoughts on India-centric design matters. 

This speaker series on Indian craft and design is co-sponsored by the Center for Integrative Studies in Social Science and MSU's Asian Studies Center through the Asian Studies Network-Strategies Partnership Grant.
