Love to travel? Interested in living abroad after graduation? Curious about exploring other cultures?

MSU students and recent graduates are invited to this Fulbright US Student Program information session, which will be presented by MSU's Fulbright Program Advisor, Joy Campbell. The Fulbright is a competitive grant program sponsored by the US Department of State that provides funding for travel and living expenses; the competition is open to US citizens who hope to work, teach, or study abroad after graduation.

Session attendees will learn about the three types of Fulbright awards open to MSU students and recent graduates: English Teaching Assistant, Open Study, and Research grants. The presenter will give an overview of the programs, discuss eligibility and benefits, then cover the various application requirements.

Students typically work on applications the summer after junior year, applying in October of their senior year. It is also possible for recent alumni to apply.

This session will be held via Zoom:

  • Meeting ID:  987 8651 4839
  • Authentication: MSU email address required. If you have graduated and no longer have one, please contact Joy Campbell prior to the event to be added to the invitation list under your personal email.

For more information, explore the MSU Fulbright website, and contact Joy Campbell with any questions.

To apply for an Office for Education Abroad Scholarship, all you have to do is apply for a program before the scholarship deadline. Within your Via Global application, mark the checkbox "YES" that you would like to be considered for a scholarship. This allows the Office for Education Abroad to access your financial aid record and consider you for all scholarships for which you are eligible. Nothing else is required.

The deadlines to apply for an Office for Education Abroad Scholarship are as follows:

  • First-Year Seminar Abroad programs: June 1
  • Winter Break and Spring programs: October 1
  • Spring Break programs: December 15
  • Summer programs: February 15
  • Fall and Academic Year programs: March 1

More information can be found on the Office for Education Abroad Scholarship webpage.

NOTE: These deadlines are only for the Office for Education Abroad Scholarship and do not apply to other MSU College, Department or Unit scholarships, or national scholarships.

Applications are open for the 2026-27 Fulbright US Scholar Program!

With Fulbright offering more than 400 awards each year, this session will help you find the right fit from among Fulbright's opportunities to teach, conduct research, or carry out professional projects in over 135 countries. MSU faculty and specialists interested in potential Fulbright awards are invited to hear from MSU's Scholar Liaison about program eligibility, award options, benefits, and grant timing, as well as relevant university policies.

Please complete the Fulbright Program Interest Survey to be added to the list of interested MSU educators.

While the competition cycle opens in February each year, applications for nearly all awards are not due until mid-September.

For more information, explore the MSU Fulbright website, and contact Scholar Liaison Joy Campbell with any questions.
