Outreach

As a National Resource Center (Pan Asia) under the Title VI funding from the U.S. Department of Education, Asian Studies Center is committed to outreach work related to teaching about Asia. Our outreach programs include three major target audiences: K-16 educators, community colleges, and local, regional, and national communities.

Goals

  • Implement activities that reflect diverse perspectives and a wide range of views and generate debate on world regions and international affairs as they apply to Asia.
  • Enhance teacher training to strengthen Asian language education and teaching about Asia, enriching teacher education curriculum with Asia content.
  • Build and grow partnerships with community colleges, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) through a series of activities that provide faculty and students of partnering institutions with access to MSU’s resources in Asian Studies including professional development opportunities (for faculty) and instruction (for students).
