"My combined experiences from (my specialization) have definitely impacted my effectiveness as an overseas volunteer, and also help me adapt my skills to help those with whom I live and work." - MSU, Elizabeth Johnk

It's allowed me to go where others have not tread and speak to people who would not have otherwise been heard. It's brought me up mountains to sleep with Nomadic Yak herders and back down valleys where I can listen to the struggles and concerns of some of the world's most disempowered and disenfranchised people." - MSU Alumni, Danny Coyle
The Asian Studies Center supports study abroad opportunities for students, as well as research abroad for faculty and staff at Michigan State University.
"I know studying in China will be one of my greatest memories of college. Understanding and living in a foreign culture has helped me to become more accepting of our world's diverse customs." - MSU Senior, Kelly Long
"When I left for Turkey at the end of May, I was expecting to study Turkish politics and history as a new dimension for my work at MSU. Upon arriving however, I was overwhelmed and incredibly excited by the level of international immersion that study abroad presents. I returned at the end of June completely in love with not only the politics, but also the beautiful culture of the Turkish nation." - MSU Junior, Evan Stewart
