Conference and Research Travel Support for 2010-2011
The Asian Studies Center has a small pool of funds available to help support core faculty travel to conferences at which they will present a paper dealing with Asia or travel for research on Asia-related topics. Core faculty members who wish to apply for a small grant of up to $500 should send a written request to the Asian Studies Center. The request should indicate either
- Which conference you are attending, what the topic of your paper will be, and documentation that your presentation is on the conference program, or
- The nature of your research. All requests must also contain a simple budget.
Requests will be received on a rolling basis but must be submitted to the Asian Studies Center at least one month before the travel occurs, and six weeks in the case of international travel.
Please note that typically funding will be provided to the Center's core faculty members presenting papers or who are similarly actively engaged in the meeting and who have not received Center's travel support in the past two years. Priority will also be given to proposals supportable through Title VI funding designated for the advancement of undergraduate education about Asia. Preference will also be given to requests where funding has already been requested from the faculty member's home department and other sources, and for requests from faculty who have not recently received travel funding.
