2011 Fall: LL 250B: East Asian Cinema
This course surveys some of the major phases and issues in contemporary East Asian Cinema (Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea) with a focus on the industrial structure, audience reception, genre conventions/innovations, film styles, and auteur-ship.

2012 Spring: GSAH 312: Globalization and East Asian Popular Cultures
This course examines transnational Asian popular cultures in relation to larger world dynamics as well as local Asian history, politics, economy, identity and nationhood. The course will cover a broad range of topics including but not limited to, Japanese manga, anime, and video games, Korean Wave, Chinese martial arts films, and Hollywood remakes of Asian films.
